The Sobrarbe region is located in the Central Pyrenees, bordered by the Ordesa National Park, and by the two Natural Parks of Sierra de Guara and Posets-Maladeta.
This strategic and legendary location, its impressive natural beauty and the cultural remains left by mankind over time, such as mediaeval churches and castles, make this one of the most visited regions in the province of Huesca.
The Sobrarbe region covers the hydrographic basin of the Ara River and that of the upper reaches of the River Cinca from its source in the Pineta valley up to the town of Abizanda. Aínsa, the district administrative centre, is located at the confluence of these two rivers.
The two rivers divide the Sobrarbe district into two very distinct valleys: The Ara Valley, with its main towns are Boltaña, Broto and Torla; and the Cinca Valley, whose main towns are Bielsa, Tella, Escalona, Lafortunada... and its capital, Aínsa.
The district offers visitors the chance to enjoy a wide range of sporting and cultural activities: hiking, horse-riding, white-water rafting, hydrospeed, mountain bike trails, canyoning, Romanesque art, museums, folk festivals and a host of others.
